The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a captivating journey that has only recently opened to trekkers, offering a unique adventure in one of Nepal’s less-traveled regions. Starting from Arughat or Soti Khola, the trail meanders along the wild and powerful Budi Gandaki River, cutting through impressive gorges nestled between the towering Himalchuli and Ganesh Himal ranges.
Trekkers are treated to awe-inspiring vistas of Mount Manaslu, the world’s eighth-highest peak, along with stunning panoramas of the neighboring Himalayan giants. As you navigate this rugged landscape, you’ll pass through charming mountain villages rich in Tibetan culture, crossing high suspension bridges, and encountering ancient monasteries.
The trek culminates with the exhilarating challenge of crossing the Larkya La Pass (5,106 meters), which rewards adventurers with breathtaking views and a sense of accomplishment. From there, a thrilling descent into the lush Marshyangdi Valley provides a sharp contrast to the snow-capped peaks above.
For those with extra time and an adventurous spirit, the Manaslu Circuit can be seamlessly combined with the Tsum Valley trek. This secluded region is renowned for its untouched beauty, remote villages, and deep-rooted Tibetan Buddhist traditions, offering a perfect extension to the Manaslu experience.
Whether you’re drawn by the allure of majestic mountain views, the call of adventure, or a cultural immersion into remote Himalayan life, the Manaslu Circuit Trek promises a truly unforgettable experience.
Welcome to Nepal! After landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you'll be greeted by our Mountmandu representative and taken to your hotel in Kathmandu. The city, with its lively streets and centuries-old temples, is the perfect introduction to Nepal. You can relax or wander around the vibrant Thamel area, soaking in the energy of this fascinating city before your trek begins.
Your Journey to Manaslu begins with a scenic drive to Machha Khola. As we leave Kathmandu behind, the road winds along rivers, through hills, and past picturesque villages. It’s a long ride, but the changing landscapes—rice terraces, waterfalls, and mountain views—keep it interesting. By evening, we’ll arrive at the riverside village of Machha Khola, where you can rest and prepare for the trekking adventure ahead.
Your first trekking day begins with a trail that follows the Budi Gandaki River. The walk is a mix of lush forest, small rural settlements, and the occasional suspension bridge over rushing rivers. Along the way, you'll pass the hot springs of Tatopani and get your first taste of the region’s natural beauty. After several hours of walking, you’ll reach Jagat, a quaint village with traditional stone houses and Tibetan influence. Take a moment to appreciate the stunning mountain backdrop before settling in for the night.
Our journey continues deeper into the Manaslu region. The trail climbs steadily through forests and gorges, offering glimpses of waterfalls and terraced fields along the way. As you gain altitude, you’ll notice the landscape and vegetation begin to change, giving you a sense that you're entering the Himalayan wilderness. After a satisfying day’s trek, you'll arrive in Dyang, where the tranquil setting and fresh mountain air provide a perfect place to rest.
Today, the trail leads through increasingly alpine terrain, with stunning views of snow-capped peaks. As you walk, you’ll pass through dense forests and isolated hamlets, each offering a unique glimpse into the daily life of the local people. Crossing rivers and ascending steadily, you’ll reach Namrung, a picturesque village known for its Tibetan culture and friendly locals. The panoramic views of the Himalayas from here are nothing short of breathtaking.
The trek from Namrung to Shyala offers some of the most spectacular views of the entire journey. With the towering Manaslu and other nearby peaks in sight, the trail meanders through beautiful villages like Lho and Sho. The scenery is otherworldly as you pass prayer flags, mani walls, and monasteries that signal the deep Tibetan Buddhist influence in the region. Shyala is a quiet and stunningly beautiful village, surrounded by panoramic views of the high Himalayas.
In the morning, you’ll take a detour to visit Pungyen Monastery, a sacred spot offering not only peace and tranquility but also awe-inspiring views of Manaslu. Afterward, you'll continue trekking to Samagaun, the largest village in the region. This ancient village is rich in culture, with traditional Tibetan houses and a vibrant local community. The day is relatively short, giving you time to explore Samagaun and immerse yourself in the high-altitude culture.
Today is a crucial acclimatization day, and what better way to do it than with a hike to Manaslu Base Camp? The trail to the base camp is steep but incredibly rewarding, with up-close views of Manaslu, glaciers, and the surrounding peaks. This hike not only helps your body adjust to the higher altitude but also gives you a taste of the mountaineering culture in the region. After soaking in the views, you'll return to Samagaun for the night.
Today’s trek takes you further into the remote highlands, close to the Tibetan border. The trail offers sweeping views of the valley and the peaks that surround it. You’ll pass yak herders and cross small rivers, feeling the vastness of the landscape as the altitude increases. Samdo is a tiny but culturally rich village, where you can witness traditional Tibetan life firsthand. Rest here for the night before tackling the high pass ahead.
Today’s trek is shorter but crucial as you prepare to cross the Larkya La Pass. The path climbs steadily to Dharmasala, also known as Larkya La Phedi, a small settlement that serves as the base for trekkers preparing to cross the pass. The landscape becomes more barren and rugged as you ascend, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. After reaching Dharmasala, you’ll settle in early to rest for the big day tomorrow.
This is the toughest yet most thrilling day of the trek. You'll set out early to tackle the Larkya La Pass, a demanding high-altitude climb that offers some of the most breathtaking views in the Himalayas. As you reach the top, you’ll be greeted by a stunning panorama of towering peaks, including Himlung, Cheo, and the majestic Annapurna range, making every step of the ascent worthwhile. After reaching the summit, a long descent takes you to Bhimthang, a beautiful valley where you'll rest and reflect on the achievement of crossing one of the highest trekking passes in Nepal.
After the challenging pass, today’s trek is a more relaxed, downhill walk through alpine forests and meadows. The trail offers lush scenery as you leave the high, barren landscape behind and descend into green valleys. You'll cross rivers and walk through charming villages before reaching Tilje, a traditional Gurung settlement. The warmth of the local people and the beauty of the surroundings make this day a delightful part of the journey.
Your trek may be over, but the adventure continues as you drive back to Kathmandu via Besisahar. The scenic drive takes you through vibrant countryside, terraced fields, and along winding rivers. Once back in the bustling capital, you can relax, enjoy a good meal, and reflect on the incredible experience of trekking the Manaslu Circuit.
It’s time to say farewell to Nepal, with unforgettable memories and perhaps the desire to return. Our team will transfer you to the airport for your international flight, bringing your Manaslu adventure to a close.
